Can Bacterial Vaginosis Cause Sores?

There are a lot of different issues that can cause problems for women’s bodies, including the vagina. One of the most common issues that can occur is that of bacterial vaginosis. This is a solution that can cause a great deal of disruption in the vagina, and even force inflammation of the dermal tissue inside the vagina. Without treatment, the symptoms associated with this could become severe, and some may even see what look like bumps or sores. Could bacterial vaginosis cause sores? What if there’s a serious infection? There are a few things to understand about this, and what to do if you see sores open up in the pubic region.

Focusing on Bacterial Vaginosis

The first thing that you need to know is that this is an issue that affects millions of women worldwide. It’s a problem with a bacterial growth in the vagina, and it causes the pH balance to shift overall. It’s not something that is easy to get rid of, without some help. It’s imperative that one focuses on finding the symptoms and then treating it as they come through. Without treatment, the symptoms can get really severe, and multiply in some cases.

The symptoms associated with vaginosis include redness, itching, pain during sexual intercourse, abnormal spotting, discharge, and even a foul odor. These can be dormant for a time, and can come through again over time, causing a disruption in women’s overall health.

Can Bacterial Vaginosis Cause Sores?

This is the question that many people will no doubt have, and the short answer is, no. If there are sores on the vagina, then the problem is not vaginosis. But rather it may be vaginitis that is caused by the herpes simplex virus. That’s something that spreads through sexual contact, and will need a professional’s diagnosis and medication to heal properly. This is not the same as vaginosis, although there are some overlying symptoms that are similar.

Herpes is a sexually transmitted disease that can spread and cause outbreaks of sores, bleeding, and even lead to vaginosis, and vaginitis. These are inflammations of the vagina, and do not heal with traditional solutions. One will need to visit a doctor and get a prescription for a topical solution to clean the issue, and ensure that outbreaks are calmed before having any sexual contact with anyone.

Healing Bacterial Vaginosis

Vaginosis can be healed with topical solutions, and probiotics. The healing element here involves reducing the bad bacteria, and eliminating the bigger problem of pH balance. By healing both options, one can ensure that vaginosis is taken care of, and it will not return. To introduce more probiotics into the body, one can eat yogurt on a daily basis, and then use a topical solution to get rid of the vaginosis to start with. If these things do not help, or you suspect that sores are the result of something problematic, then it’s imperative to seek medical help, as a professional can assist with healing the problem with topical options, and even prevent recurring elements from forming. Sores, are not common with this issue at all.

Leukemia: Risk Factors, Types and Symptoms

Comments Off on Leukemia: Risk Factors, Types and Symptoms

What is Leukemia? This is known as cancer of the human blood or that of bone marrow that produces blood cells. Leukemia manifests through the production of cells called leukocytes which is white blood cells.

Obviously, there is no known prevention for leukemia as it is caused by increase in the amount of white cells in the body. The red cells and the platelets needed to keep the body healthy are crowded out and this causes a problem – cancer of the blood.

Factors that are most likely to increase the risk of leukemia occurrence

As stated earlier, there are no known causes of leukemia but some identified factors are most likely to increase the chances of the occurrence. They are:
• Addictive smoking
• Exposure to extreme radiation
• Disorders in the blood system like myelodysplastic syndrome also referred to as preleukemia
• Generational history of existence of leukemia
• Genetic malady like the Down syndrome
• Exposure to harmful chemicals like benzene

HOW LEUKEMIA STARTS
There are three different types of cells in human blood: the red cells which are responsible for the carriage of oxygen, the white cells that help fight germs and infection and the platelets which are responsible for blood clothing.

Billions of new cells are daily supplied to the bone marrow majority of which are red cells. When the cancer “Leukemia” sets in, the body instead of producing more red cells produces more white cells than it requires.

The inability of leukemia cells to fight against infection causes the major organs of the body to start malfunctioning. At the end, there will be insufficient red blood cells to bring in oxygen, platelets for blood clothing and white blood cells to combat infection.

Types of Leukemia
Acute and chronic leukemia: white blood cells follow several maturation stages in their lifespan. Leukemia is said to be acute when it occurs rapidly in amassing of useless immature cells in the blood and bone marrow. They are squashed out of the bone marrow very early and thus become nonfunctional. Chronic leukemia on the other hand, progresses less rapidly and gives room for more useful and matured cells to be formed. What this implies is that acute leukemia removes the good cells faster than chronic leukemia.

Lymphocytic leukemia and Myelogenous leukemia: Leukemia has been further subdivided into the kind of blood cell that is affected. If the diseased transformation happens in the lymphocytes bone marrow, it is lymphocytic kind of leukemia. Lymphocyte is found in the immune system vertebrae. If the diseased transformation happens in the kind of marrow cells which supplies red blood cells, and other categories of white cells and platelets, it is myelogenous kind of leukemia.

Leukemia symptoms
These are symptoms of the presence of leukemia:
• Too much sweating mostly in the night
• Pain of the bones and tenderness
• Frequent fever
• Bruising and bleeding so quickly
• Constant infections
• Red mark on the skin known as petechiae
• Tiredness and faintness that rest cannot stop
• Unusual loss of weight
• Increment of the spleen or liver.

The Infectious Influenza Virus

Comments Off on The Infectious Influenza Virus

What is influenza (flu)? This is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.

People who have the flu often feel a feverish/chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches and fatigue (very tired). Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults. These symptoms were experienced by my kids and me. They just got out of the hospital last evening while I was not confined because no one would take care of them if all three of us were hospitalized. I received the same medication they have; just an out-patient.

Prior to this incident, I attended a seminar about Business Proposal Preparation for one week at a hotel in Davao City. The venue was not inside the hotel but in a separate location; say about 50 meters away. We walked this distance daily. From the hotel to the venue, the temperature was a mixture of too cold, too hot and then too cold. During our last day, I experienced a runny nose and a slight fever. When I arrived home, I was really very tired and sick. So, my kids took care of me. Unfortunately, during my second day at home, my son got a fever and then my daughter was infected too. Since they had a very high fever, I really confined them to a hospital for proper medication. For almost a week, we stayed in the hospital and only last night that we were released. But still, my kids were not feeling well nor do I despite the heavy dose of antibiotics.

Unknowingly, most healthy adults may be able to infect others beginning 1 day before symptoms develop and up to 5 to 7 days after becoming sick. Some people, especially young children and people with weakened immune systems, might be able to infect others for an even longer time.

Complications of the flu include bacterial pneumonia, ear infections, sinus infections, dehydration, and worsening of chronic medical conditions, such as congestive heart failure, asthma, or diabetes. Anyone can get the flu even healthy people. Serious problems related to the flu can happen at any age, but some people are at high risk of developing serious flu-related complications if they get sick like people who are 65 years and older; people of any age with certain chronic medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease; pregnant women; and young children.

It is very difficult to distinguish the flu from other viral or bacterial causes of respiratory illnesses on the basis of symptoms alone. There are tests available to diagnose flu. But the most important step in preventing the flu is to get a flu vaccination each year.

I also realized that when you are infected with the flu, you need to stay away from other people so that you cannot infect them too. The spread of this virus is very fast. So, covering coughs and sneezes and frequent hand washing can also help slow the spread of germs that cause respiratory (nose, throat, and lungs) illnesses.

The Dangers of Atherosclerosis

Comments Off on The Dangers of Atherosclerosis

Atherosclerosis is a disease that affects blood flow in the arteries due to plaques buildup. Plaques consist of fatty substances, cholesterol, calcium, cellular waste products and fibrin. As plaques build up, the artery wall gets thicker, reducing blood flow and oxygen supply to body cells.

Although atherosclerosis is typically associated with the heart, it can affect any of the arteries in the body. Plaques can totally or partially restrict the blood flow to the brain, heart, arms, legs, kidneys or pelvis. Depending on which particular arteries become blocked and its severity, atherosclerosis can result in dangerous complications, among which are:

    • Coronary artery disease. Narrowing of arteries in the heart or those leading to it can result in heart attack, angina and heart failure.
Carotid artery disease. When plaques are formed in carotid (neck) arteries that deliver blood to the brain, it can lead to a stroke or transient ischemic attack (a near-stroke condition that spontaneously improves for unknown reasons).

    • Peripheral artery disease. When atherosclerosis affects arms and legs, the consequences can be a decreased sensitivity to cold and heat, resulting in increased risk of frostbite or burns, and in severe cases, gangrene.

    • Aneurysm. Aneurysm or a bulge in the arterial wall can occur anywhere in the body. Aneurysms are especially dangerous because they often produce no symptoms. But if a bulge bursts, it often results in an internal bleeding, which can be life-threatening.

    • Chronic kidney disease. Inadequate blood supply to the kidneys can lead to chronic kidney disease and renal failure – serious conditions, which require dialysis.

    • Blindness. If atherosclerosis affects the central retinal artery, an eye occlusion can happen. This means a sudden vision loss in one or both eyes.

    • Erectile dysfunction. When arteries leading to the genitals are damaged, the amount of blood flow necessary for normal erection and sexual function cannot be delivered to the penis during sexual intercourse.

  • Mesenteric artery thrombosis occurs when blood supply to the stomach and intestines necessary for digestion is restricted. This condition can bring on a severe abdominal pain right after a meal.

As you see atherosclerosis is dangerous because it can provoke complications in any body organ. And while it is still unknown how exactly it begins, the three possible causes – high cholesterol, hypertension and smoking- should be kept in mind to significantly lower the risk.

Comments Off on Health benefits of butter – An ayurveda perception

Dictionaries define butter as “a solid emulsion of fat globules, air, and water made by churning milk or cream and used as food”. Butter is known as “Navaneeta” in Sanskrit. It is referred as navaneeta in texts of ayurveda too. Butter is usually made from cow’s or buffalo’s milk. But it can be made from milk of other mammals like sheep, goats, camel etc.

Butter prepared out of cow’s milk contains saturated fats, monosaturated fats, polyunsaturated fats, plenty of Vitamin A, Vtamin D, Vitamin D and Cholesterol.

Texts of ayurveda consider butter prepared from milk of cow, buffalo and sheep for medicinal use. The health benefits of butter are very well explained in ayurveda.

Butter prepared from cow’s milk has the following medicinal properties.

• It acts as a body coolant.
• This butter nourishes body tissues and increases body energy level.
• The complexion of skin and strength of body increases when butter is consumed.
• Butter increases appetite.
• It alleviates vata and pitta.
• Very effective in piles or hemorrhoids.
• Reduces cough.
• Elderly people and infants are benefited by butter. It acts like an elixir when administered to infants and elderly.

Butter prepared from buffalo’s milk has the following medicinal properties

• It increases vata and kapha.
• Butter prepared from buffalo’s milk is heavy to digest.
• Consumption of this butter alleviates pitta, burning sensation and tiredness.
• It increases quality and quantity of semen.
• Body fat or medho dhatu gets increased by consuming this regularly.

Butter prepared from sheep’s milk alleviates vata, pitta and kapha and is superior to all other types of butter.Texts of ayurveda eulogize the medicinal properties of sheep’s milk.

Sheep milk is treasure of nutrients. It is richer in vitamins A, B, and E, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and magnesium than cow milk. The chains of fatty acids in sheep milk have many health benefits. They have little effect on blood cholesterol level of humans. It is easy to digest fat portion of sheep milk.

Butter mixed with sandal wood paste is usually massaged over babies body to cleanse its skin and soften it. This improves complexion and glow of skin. Butter massage also helps to prevent drying of baby skin.

Essential Oils – An Alternative to Pain Medicine

Years ago I began to have migraine headaches due to extreme stress. I took antidepressants to ease the stress and the headaches went away. Time and time again they would come back. I ended up taking Ibuprofen like it was candy. Many years later after dealing with severe heartburn for over a year, I was diagnosed with esophagitis. I was warned by my doctor that I had to cut several things from my diet as well as stop taking the pain meds. So I was stuck trying to find a new way to relieve my headaches.

A friend of mine told me about a holistic chiropractor who she said could almost work miracles. I went to this new chiropractor and found out that acupuncture is an awesome treatment for any pain. Unfortunately, the acupuncture doesn’t last, at least it didn’t for me. This new chiropractor introduced me to Chinese White Flower Oil. I found that the Chinese White Flower Oil really helped my pain so I used to keep it at my desk at work. My boss told me that it smelled like Bengay but I told him to hush up. It has more of a wintergreen scent and it works well, relieving muscle and headache pain.

After doing some research and networking with friends, I started using essential oils. I read that peppermint essential oil helps to relieve headaches. I gave it a try and it worked so well for me that now I never go anywhere without my peppermint oil. I have an old neck injury from a car accident that flares up often. The pain in my neck tends to migrate up into the base of my skull then it radiates throughout my head. I usually put pure peppermint essential oil on my temples, forehead, and the temporal skull bones directly behind my ears. Sometimes I even put it on my neck where the pain is emanating from. It really makes the pain go away. The good thing about peppermint oil is that it smells good and you don’t have to worry about smelling like a locker room.

Now, I have no problem putting undiluted peppermint essential oil on my skin but some people might not be able to do that. Some people have sensitive skin or allergies and should dilute the pure peppermint oil with a base oil like coconut. When I put the peppermint essential oil on my temples I have to be careful not to use too much. If it is too much and too close to my eyes, they end up watering for the next hour. Peppermint is effective and very potent! Some spas use iced cloths with peppermint to help their guests relax.

Lavender is another essential oil that can be used for headaches. It has more of a calming effect. I’ve used it on occasion and it helps me to relax. Lavender essential oil is a great stress reliever and can help stress headaches. To help with a stress headache, I suggest putting lavender essential oil in a diffuser nearby and lie down in a semi-dark room. My Mom used to put cold wet washcloths on her forehead.

Eucalyptus essential oil stinks to high heaven but it can help a headache that is combined with a cold and stuffy nose. This works well in a diffuser. The eucalyptus essential oil works to open up the sinuses to help one breathe. It can help with the symptoms of a cold but unfortunately, cannot heal it.

Rosemary essential oil has been used for years to treat headaches. The analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties of Rosemary essential oil are what helps relieve headaches. It can be applied with a base oil or put in a diffuser.

Over the counter medications hold many dangers that most people aren’t aware of. One of the ingredients in many popular pain relievers is acetaminophen. Taking acetaminophen over time can cause liver damage and even liver failure. Liver failure can happen when acetaminophen is taken in large amounts. People who don’t read the labels and warnings are in danger of liver damage or even death. Sometimes acetaminophen is listed as APAP under ingredients.
Ibuprofen is another popular pain reliever. It can relieve pain and inflammation however it can cause stomach issues. I found this out the hard way. Thankfully the damage done to my esophagus is reversible but I have to be careful of what I eat and drink.

DISEASES CAUSED BACTERIES

Comments Off on DISEASES CAUSED BACTERIES

  1. TUBERCULOSIS PARU (TBC)

Tuberculosis Lung or tuberculosis is a disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosi and Mycrobacterium bovis bacteria. The bacteria have a size of 0.5-4 microns x 0.3-0.6, microns with a thin, straight or somewhat crooked, granular or non-sameless shape, but have a thick outer layer composed of lipoids. The disease is transmitted through the air (droplet nuclei) when a TB patient coughs and splashes containing the bacteria are inhaled by others during breathing.

  1. DIFTERIA

Diphtheria is a rare disease, usually affecting adolescents and adults. The cause of this disease is the bacteria Corynebacterium diphtheria. The disease has two forms: the first Respiratory Type caused by a bacterial strain that produces toxin (toxigenetics) which usually causes severe symptoms to death, whereas the second form of Cutaneous Type caused by both toxigenetic and non-toxigenetic strains is generally mild with inflammation which is not typical. Transmission of this disease occurs through droplets when the sufferer (career) coughs, sneezes, and speaks. However, the dust or vomit of the patient is also biased to be a medium of transmission.

  1. PETRISIS

Petrusis is an acute respiratory infection disease that primarily affects children. The disease is caused by bacteria Bordetella pertussis (Haemophilus pertussis). Bordetella pertussis belongs to the Gram-negative, immobile and non-sporadic Cortobacillus group. These bacteria require a medium to grow like a blood-glycerin-potato medium (Bordet-Gengou) which adds penicillin to inhibit the growth of other organisms. This bacterium is 0.5-1μm in length and its diameter is 0.2-0.3μm. Transmission of the disease through droplets and most infants infected by his brother and sometimes by his parents.

  1. TETANUS NEONATORUM

Tetanus is a muscle stiffness (spasm) disease caused by exotoxins (tetanospasmin) from tetanus-causing organisms rather than by their own organisms. The disease is caused by the bacterium Clostridium tatani which is a Gram-positive bacterium in the form of a stem with spores on the side of the tip so similar to the drum beater. Tetanus bacteria is anaerobic obligate in the form of vegetative in environment without oxygen and susceptible to heat and disinfectant. The transmission is by Tetanus entering the human body usually through a deep wound with anaerobic atmosphere (without oxygen) as a result of accidents, stab wounds, surgical wounds, dental caries, umbilical cord, etc.

Ciprofloxacin Antibiotics

Ciprofloxacin (Ciprofloxacin) is a class of 2nd generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic that has a wide spectrum, is active against gram-positive and gram-positive bacteria. This antibiotic works by inhibiting the two types of enzymes II topoisomerase that is DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. Topoisomerase IV requires separate DNA that has been replicated before bacterial cell division. With DNA that is not separated, the process stops and the bacteria can not divide. While the DNA gyrase is responsible for the supercoil DNA so it will fit inside the newly formed cell. The combination of the two mechanisms above will kill the bacteria so that the ciprofloxacin is classified as bactericidal.

Ciprofloxacin is generally marketed at 250 mg / tablet or 500 mg / tablet. Other preparations may be infusions or drip preparations.

Indication the usefulness of ciprofloxacin is for the treatment of the following conditions:     Treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract, gastrointestinal infections, including infections by gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Legionella pneumophila, Moraxella catarrhalis, Proteus mirabilis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa), and gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus , Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Enterococcus faecalis, and Streptococcus pyogenes).

Ciprofloxacin (ciprofloxacin) is also used for infections of the skin and soft tissues, bones and joints, acute gonorrhea and acute osteomyitis. indication     Do not use this antibiotic in patients with a history of hypersensitivity or allergy to ciprofloxacin (ciprofloxacin) and other quinolone class antibiotics.    Should also not be used for pregnant women and lactating mothers.

Ciprofloxacin (ciprofloxacin) is also contraindicated in patients with epilepsy or other seizure disorders.    Should not be given to patients with a history of tendon rupture. Side Effects of ciprofloxacin Most side effects of ciprofloxacin (ciprofloxacin) are mild to moderate which will soon disappear when drug administration is stopped. However, serious side effects sometimes occur.

The most common side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, abnormal liver function tests, vomiting, and rash on the skin.    It also increases the risk of tendonitis and tendon rupture, especially in patients over 60, patients taking corticosteroid medications, and patients with kidney, lung, or heart transplantation.

Like other fluoroquinolones, these antibiotics can trigger seizures or lower seizure thresholds, and can cause side effects to other central nervous systems.    Headaches, dizziness, and insomnia are also reported quite often.    much less frequent events such as tremor, psychosis, anxiety, hallucinations, paranoia, and attempted suicide, especially at higher doses.    Very rare but potentially fatal side effects such as toxic epidermal necrolysis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, cardiac arrest (torsades des pointes or QT extension), allergic pneumonitis, bone marrow suppression, hepatitis or liver failure, and phototoxicity / photosensitivity.    The drug should be stopped if the rash, jaundice, or other signs of hypersentitivity occur.
